RED NOSE DAY!

Thankyou everyone!

WORLD BOOK DAY 2021

To celebrate world book day, we all made origami corner bookmarks. We mastered the technique really quickly and managed to make bookmarks for our mums, dads, sisters, brothers and teachers! We thought about the book characters they like and made bookmarks to match! Well done everyone!

The home learners hunted round their houses to find and photograph their top 10 books. It was fun to re-read the books we read when we were little!

EASTER EGG COMPETITION

Look at these amazing entries! Keep your eyes peeled in Brungerley Park. One of these beauties will be part of the Spring Surprise Trail! Let us know if you spot it!

CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK AND ORCHARDS FOR SCHOOLS

Next week is Children's Mental Health Week. On Wednesday 3rd March we are taking a break from our screens and heading off into the great outdoors to plant trees and spend a bit of time with mother nature!

We all had a FABULOUS time planting our orchard. Huge thanks to Lucy at Studio Bakery for inviting us to get involved! We are all looking forward to returning to keep an eye on the saplings and watch them grow! Everyone got stuck in and had a go at digging and mulching. Some of us even had a go at drilling and nailing! One of the year 6 girls was so good with the tools that Mrs Ardern nicknamed her 'Little Miss Maintenance'. Impressive skills!

WEAVING - WAS IT GOOD FOR OUR MENTAL HEALTH?

Yes! Look at us having a go at weaving using scraps of wool and old bits of card. We found it very relaxing and are really proud of our results!

THE RSPB BIG GARDEN BIRDWATCH

We have loved designing and making our bird feeders and they are now ready to be hung on the trees in the school grounds. Both the in school and at home learners will be birdwatching on Friday 29th January from 2:00 - 3:00pm - weather permitting. Happy twitching everyone!

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION ZOOM!

We hope you all enjoyed the Y5 and Y6 performance of the famous poem! We all enjoyed performing it for you! Merry Christmas!

KINDNESS DAY 2020

In a world where you can be anything.....be kind!

CHILDREN IN NEED 2020

Thankyou to you all! We reached our £70 target! The children all looked so cheerful in their colourful clothes and the duck designs were fabulous! Can you see yours on the picture below?

WHAT STUCK WITH YOU THIS HALF TERM?

To finish off this half term we have all been thinking about what we can remember learning. There has been so much!

HARVEST CELEBRATION WORSHIP

A huge THANKYOU for all the donations for the foodbank. Harry's harvest box is full to the brim!

Year 5 and 6 performed a poem and some Class 2 children read out their acrostic poems during our worship. Thankyou!

PSHE

We had a very exciting morning today! Gemma came in to teach us all about the importance of having a positive growth mindset. We all have some practical ideas that will help us deal with negative thoughts. Thankyou Gemma!

GEOGRAPHY

We have been busy finding out WHERE people have been during lockdown. We really enjoyed using Digimaps to find our favourite places!

PSHE

We have been busy finding out HOW everybody has been during lockdown.

It's so nice to see all the children playing with the playtime equipment. We have some fabulous footballers, super skippers and accurate rocket launchers!
Key Stage 2 afternoons prior to 2020/21

THE ART OF THE BRICK ART EXHIBITION IN MANCHESTER

We really enjoyed our visit to the exhibition. Everything was made from LEGO. It was amazing!

KS2 ART

We analysed different portrait styles and discussed the use of colour. We then adapted our pencil portraits to create some fabulous effects. We are getting very good at mixing our own shades and colours now!

KS2 GEOGRAPHY

We used an atlas to locate and name countries in the 'Ring of Fire'. We used lines of latitude and longitude to find exact locations. We are getting much more confident when presenting our finding to the class.

KS2 GEOGRAPHY

We had great fun developing our fieldwork skills in our local environment.

KS2 GEOGRAPHY
We presented the data we collected in the field as graphs and sketches.

KS2 GEOGRAPHY

We made the water cycle out of LEGO! Can you see our labels for the different stages of the water cycle?

KS2 HISTORY

We have worked hard to develop our chronological knowledge of the British Timeline. We have a very clever way of remembering all the main time periods and enjoyed presenting this to parents!

KS2 HISTORY

We invited Mr Darlington into school; he is a local history expert. We asked him lots of questions about the history of our village and presented our findings in the form of a booklet.

KS2 PSHE

We have looked at what makes a community and we appreciate that there are a range of identities in the UK. We enjoyed looking at the Divali celebrations around the world.

We had a sneaky peek inside the Bolton - by - Bowland polling station on election day; we found it really interesting and it made learning about democracy relevant.

We celebrated mental health awareness day by wearing yellow.

KS2 DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

We designed and started to make our BbyB bunting just before lockdown.

We represented physical features of our local landscape using felt and other materials.
