Early Years comprises of our Nursery and reception children.
Mrs Humberstone is the class teacher with Mrs Harrop, our wonderful teaching assistant.
In the mornings KS1 and the EYFS are together for Registration.
The class then separates into the EYFS with Mrs Harrop, whilst Years 1 and 2 are taught by Mrs Humberstone and Mrs Drummond.
This is sometimes reversed so Mrs Humberstone can work with the EYFS children.
After lunch the EYFS and KS1 children work in the same setting.
The whole school enjoys breaks and lunchtime playing together.
Children who have reached their 3rd birthday are entitled to take up to 15/30 hours funded per week depending on personal circumstances.
These sessions provide valuable learning experiences for pre-school children and they have a thorough grounding and induction into school-life.
Children spend some of their time with reception and KS1 children and start learning sooner. It is also a time for learning through play.
We feel that working with children in mixed age classes has many benefits, including the ability of the teacher to meet individual needs regardless of their Year group. Also there is class stability and continuity making transition into school easier.
Children can spend longer than their 'free' hours at school but these hours are chargeable.
The EYFS summary is available along with a parents' guide and development matters on the link above. Please look at this to learn what your child will be learning and what you can expect from the school
